The cornerstone of Gov. Mitt Romney's new universal health care law
for Massachusetts is a program titled "Commonwealth Care", a plan
for thousands of low-income people who could not afford regular
health insurance, funded by the taxpayers.
You know how Steve Jobs and Apple like to boast of the iPhone's
ability to function as a "widescreen iPod?" Well, anyone who sat in
Moscone Center to witness the holy unveiling surely noticed the
screen cropping (letterboxing) that occurred when Steve played
Pirates of the Carribean.
Denzel Washington wants the Oscar for the upcoming movie "The Great
Debaters," but for Supporting Actor so he doesn't compete with
himself in American Gangster. This is interesting...I never really
understood Academy Award politics, but this does make sense. It’s
just funny to think of an actor competing against himself.
Elmore Road -- New look, new name, new way to cross the city. The
3-mile road from Abbott Road to 48th Avenue should open
Thanksgiving week. Say hello to Elmore Road, the city's newest
thoroughfare. The road formerly known as Abbott Loop was wiped off
the map and Bragaw Street exists only north of Northern Lights
Boulevard.
Probably didn't know the famous author of children's book did
rather heavy-handed political cartoons do, did you? It's strange to
see Hitler, Mussolini, and other historical monsters rendered in
Dr. Seuss's signature style, and almost weirder to see his
whimsical machines and creatures present in cartoons with such a
serious purpose.
Some trains were sold out and light snow slowed traffic in Denver,
but short airport lines and a few major delays surprised people on
the eve of Thanksgiving.
Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Kerry Joseph earned top
offensive honors for the CFL's Players of the Week for the East and
West finals. Joseph threw for 209 yards and a pair of touchdowns on
18-of-35 passing, adding 43 yards rushing in Saskatchewan's 26-17
victory over the B.C. Lions in Vancouver, which sent the Riders to
their first Grey Cup since 1997.
